Every business has a story, tell us yours. My life’s work is to engage people and help them come alive.  While serving over twenty years as a corporate CEO, I became a student of leadership, somewhat out of necessity, and discovered that organizational health is the greatest driver of high performance.   Most people move about in their work like corporate zombies, hoping just to make it to 5:00.   A leader’s greatest challenge is to bring out the best in people, engage their energy, and help them create their own successes. I’ve taken my years of experience, including the thrill of ringing the bell to open the trading at the New York Stock Exchange, and am now helping people with positional authority learn how to lead through influence.   This involves leadership workshops, public speaking, and now bringing my concepts public with my first book, All-Pro Wisdom.

You were chosen as this month’s Success Client. Tell us about your most recent Success.  Over the past two years I collaborated with Matt Birk on a project that helped to validate my proposition that “The Seven Choices” create a proven and powerful framework for personal greatness and effective leadership.  I interviewed ten high profile NFL personalities, including Matt, my Minnesota neighbor and Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl Champion, each of them impact players and influential leaders.  The outcome was my first book, which was released in February. It is not a “football book” but rather a book about making choices and achieving personal greatness.   A few of my closest associates have told me that this is what I was put on this earth to do, so in that sense, my work is a calling, and a mission.

No one likes to brag about their business, but if you HAD TO . . . I am skilled at helping leaders develop leaders.

We learn from our mistakes, especially in business. Give us some words of wisdom. Our response to mistakes reveals our character. Grow in character. A life of remarkable character is to be preferred over a life of remarkable achievement.

Share the best advice you ever received. Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken!

Describe your perfect day off. Time with my spouse and best friend Jayme.  Time with my four children. A little fly fishing. Time with my Nike, our 160 pound Newfie.

What might someone be surprised to know about you? I am a Broadway fan, a musician, and I ground every day by reading, “In Conversation with God.”

Together we are stronger. Tell us something you like about being our client. The sense of belonging; the positive attitude and support of Tina and Allison; the access to support when needed; the professional atmosphere.

If you could work anywhere under the sun, where would you choose? Literally anywhere that I can engage with people in fresh thinking and life-changing conversations.
