July – Milestone
Karen Larsen is our Milestone client this month. Karen has been an OffiCenters client for 26 years! With her legal and tax background and the longevity of her career, Karen offers a unique perspective to financial services. We are proud to feature her as a Milestone Client. 1) What would you like people to know about you and your business? I provide financial planning services, portfolio management services and income tax preparation services for individuals and small businesses.
2) Where did you get the idea for your business? After being in private practice for 8 years, I decided to focus on financial services. It is an arena that touches everyone.
3) What makes your business unique? My legal and tax background offer a unique perspective to financial services.
4) What are the keys to your success? Honesty, hard work and truly enjoying every day.
5) What is the one piece of advice you’d like to give to others about running a business? Do what you love and love what you do. If you don’t have fun and enjoy your profession, you’re in the wrong profession!
6) How long have you been at OffiCenters? Which location? I have been at France OffiCenter since 1987.
7) How has your relationship with OffiCenters changed your business? It hasn’t changed my business, but being an OffiCenter client means I don’t have to deal with the administrative side of business. I just show up. OffiCenters provides me a wonderful turn-key operation. And, our staff is and always has been fantastic.
8) If you could work from anywhere under the sun, where would you choose? This is a trick question! When I work, I work. But, when I play, I play. So, I guess I would work from my office, and leave the dream locations for my vacations.

10) What piece of technology can you not live without? My laptop.
11) What is one of your favorite quotes? “If you have built castles in the air; your work need not be lost. That is where they should be. Now, put foundations under them.” Henry David Thoreau
12) Who has been an inspiration in your life? My parents. They were honest, hard-working, generous people and they both had wonderful senses of humor!
13) When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you use it? Relaxing, wherever I am.
14) If you had a long weekend with unlimited funds, where would you go? My two favorite places that I have visited are Poipu Beach on Kauai, Hawaii and Iguazu Falls in Brazil. But both are a long way to go for a weekend!
15) If you could be any fictional character, whom would you choose and why? Fiction is fiction…I much prefer the real world.
16) What is your favorite restaurant in Minnesota? Jensen’s Supper Club in Eagan.
17) What songs are included on the soundtrack to your life? I like a lot of musical genres. No rap or heavy metal, though. Too much anger in those two.
18) If you could paint a picture what would you paint and why? Trust me; there is not one artistic bone in my body. But, I have a great appreciation for people who truly are Artists. I love the classics.
