Janna shares her answers to our questions below.

While working full-time as an in-house graphic designer, I started building my freelance client base. Soon, I was working 2 full-time jobs and I knew something needed to give. So I launched Local Design Group as a full-time freelancer, doing mostly print work. Soon after, I partnered with local website development talent and started to grow the digital side of the business. Now I work with a network of great local talent in the areas of design, website development, photography, content development, marketing strategy, illustration, and search engine optimization.
You were chosen as this month’s Innovator Client. What does being an Innovator mean to you?
Innovation is simply creating a new solution. Sometimes that means using what already exists for a different purpose, and sometimes it means creating a new solution altogether.
No one likes to brag about their business, but if you HAD TO. . .
We make it a point to create solutions that are customized to a client’s needs. Design projects, particularly digital design projects, can be overwhelming for clients who don’t necessarily know what is possible, or feasible for their needs. We come in to help clients identify their needs and get a solution that fits their budget and accomplishes their goals. I’ve been told I’m good at translating web projects for clients who don’t work in the web world day-to-day. I’m glad I can make people more comfortable with a process that can be intimidating.

Describe your perfect day off.
It’s quiet, starts with eggs benedict, and probably takes place in Mexico.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I have a motorcycle license and plans for my 2nd tattoo.
Together we are stronger. Tell us something you like about being our client.
I love the office and the staff, they are so helpful and friendly. Plus, I love BlackJack Fridays (because I won! Yay!)
If you could work anywhere under the sun, where would you choose?
It depends on the day. Sometimes I want to be a barista at a 3rd wave hipster coffee shop. Most days I love my job right where I am.
