2014-10 connect_storyCathy Paper, of RockPaperStar and VirtualOffiCenters client at Union Plaza is a great example of being an active member of our community. Below, Cathy shares her journey as she started her solo business and experienced the #1 complaint of many start-ups, lack of personal interaction with others. She succeeded in developing relationships and growing her business by attending OffiCenters/VirtualOffiCenters events and making our circle a part of her daily business. Cathy has made many TRUE CONNECTIONS and we are happy to bring you her story:

When I first started my business six years ago, RockPaperStar, I had no idea how lonely being a start-up could be. I met a lot of people as my business grew, but I didn’t have a lot of people to talk to during the day. In steps Mickey Mikeworth and Lori Spiess. I met both of them and started to grow my community and connections through OffiCenters at International, Union Plaza and Park Place. I was meeting new people at the monthly networking events. I found myself calling other OffiCenters clients like Joe Pepka to help me with IT problems. I met others who I would then see out at non-OffiCenters events, for example Tai Goodwin of Bankable Brilliance. I attended workshops of people I already knew at Park OffiCenter . . Who doesn’t love Ann Pryor’s LinkedIn Workshops or Kathy Crandall’s defining strategy conversations. They are the duo of Meaningful Connections. Then I started to talk to “the regulars” during water breaks and became friends with Don Hoffer, Insurance guru with the giant toothbrush at networking events. I support Teresa Thomas and her events on the Virtual OffiCenters Facebook page. Now, every day when I come to OffiCenters, I have people I can do business with and people I call my work-friends. OffiCenters has an amazing staff that helps me stay prepared for every client meeting with copies, mailings and presentations. It’s so great to connect and really make each other stronger. Without my OffiCenters Circle I would still be lonely, but I’m not and I’m super grateful.
