Ellis International offers meeting management and event production services. We started our business in 2002 and have continued to grow and expand every year. We love working with our clients on their meetings and events!
You were chosen as this month’s Success Member. Tell us about a recent Success.
We recently did an event for a new client. They had fired their previous event partner and were worried about hiring another. After working with them on the content, theme, logistics and successfully executing the event on site, they told us it was the best meeting they have ever had and that they would like to do all their future meetings with us! We love moment’s like that!
No one likes to brag about their business, but if you HAD TO . . .
Ellis International is one of the few event companies that offers both production services and meeting planning support to offer our clients a “one-stop shopping” experience. We really understand all facets of a meeting or event and love orchestrating all the pieces together into one symphony.
We learn from our mistakes, especially in business. Give us some words of wisdom.
Businesses are successful when they are fulfilling a need that is not being met elsewhere. Don’t try to be all things to all people. Find your niche and be excellent at that. Listen more than you talk. Understand that it’s a small world and operate with integrity, honesty and grace. You may lose a client this year and they call you back next year. You never know!
What “teacher” has made the most impact on your life and why?
There are so many ‘teachers’ you meet along the way in life, but my mother is the one who has had the most impact on my life. She has helped me learn everything I needed to know to be a successful business owner!
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I speak several languages, am a licensed pilot and have traveled all over the world.
If you could have only one super power, what would it be and why?
Hmmm…I think I would go with Telepathy because it would be useful in day to day life while many of the other super powers are only useful if you are a super spy or fighting mythical creatures.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
I just read an article about the fact that up until 1988, women couldn’t get a business loan without a man to co-sign. 1988! I hadn’t realized this practice had survived quite so long.
