I turn people into rockstars. I’ve been a coach my entire life and was one at Best Buy for years coaching executives who were much more accomplished than I was. I quickly learned that learning how to learn and change and grow is the secret to getting better. The most successful people keep pushing themselves. When I left Best Buy to start my own business, I knew I wanted to train and coach other people so I reached out to Harvey Mackay, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Swim With The Sharks Without Being Eaten Alive. (If you haven’t read it, please do it’s one of the top 15 books of all-time). I created a new website for Harvey and helped build out his online products. We also worked on his book launches and that was how I landed in the niche of promoting authors. My passion is for developing other people and connecting them in the most efficient manner to a route to reach their goals. I run a leadership group called Directors Dozen and recently added a coaching program for early career professionals or recent graduates.
You were chosen as this month’s Success Member. Tell us about a recent Success.
I was recently selected to lead a group called CoStarters at the James J Hill Center to help new entrepreneurs map out their business plan in 9 weeks. The structure of this program is amazing and I’m psyched to tell others all the shortcuts to business success.
No one likes to brag about their business, but if you HAD TO . . .
I can quickly take the chaos of marketing launches and make sense of what needs to happen in the most timely manner. I am fond of writing on a piece of paper and helping a client move from overwhelmed to action. Chris Farrell, who is a client, has a new book coming out in 2019 and we recently went through this process and I could visibly see him relax and know that it would all work out and he can find the resources to make his next book another success as well. I make AMAZING worksheets and training materials.
We learn from our mistakes, especially in business. Give us some words of wisdom.
Focus. I was all over the board at the start and it showed in my results. Not the greatest and I was tired. I was able to use the OffiCenters admin support to lighten my load and delegate anything under six minutes. I haven’t made a reservation or appointment in years and now my ability to focus on coaching and sales and strategic tasks is better. The results show it.
What “teacher” has made the most impact on your life and why?
My high school tennis coach, Cliff Caine. He recently died but I was able to learn about competition and pushing yourself from him. He also taught us how to have fun and not take yourself too seriously. I learned how to be honest and fair and “get to the net”.
What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I like to speed and make u-turns.
If you could have only one super power, what would it be and why?
Elasta-girl. Then my body wouldn’t hurt after tennis.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?
That 25% of small business owners/entrepreneurs that will start a new business are between the ages of 55-64.
