1) What would you like people to know about you and your business? I partner with executive leaders and leadership teams, inspiring leadership that engages, aligns and empowers to achieve results.
2) Where did you get the idea for your business? After having led from the executive chair for 25 years I know that effective leaders are resourceful, resilient and attentive on multiple levels, and continuously seek self-improvement. I also understand that complex organizations need to focus on key initiatives with versatile approaches in order to align people and get results. Affirming feedback about my ability to engage, develop and empower people as a CEO of a health care organization sparked my interest in leadership coaching. This led to the pursuit of an executive coaching certification at the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara in 2010. I am now a Certified Hudson Institute Coach and an Authorized Facilitator of a team diagnostic assessment tool and improvement process developed by Team Coaching International.
3) What makes your business unique? My executive background in health care leadership gives me a depth of understanding of complex organizations and how influence plays a key role in dealing with resistance and getting an organization into alignment. My additional study of leadership and coaching competencies provide me with a solid foundation to resonate with leaders and transform leadership challenges into solutions. I partner with leaders to clarify their goals, create an action plan and to gain engagement throughout their organizations. I also work with Boards of Directors on strategy and governance issues.
4) What are the keys to your success? Knowledge, Experience, Courage and Presence. Building an extensive network and maintaining a strong interest in others and how I can help.
5) What is the one piece of advice you’d like to give to others about running a business? I am continually learning and experimenting. Raising my visibility is something I am currently working at. One piece of advice is to notice what is showing up in your life and utilize it to move to the next level. Another is to always be developing daily practices that ensure continual outreach. And also, know who your advocates are and stay connected with them.
6) How long have you been at OffiCenters? Which location? Since November of 2011 at France OffiCenter.
7) How has your relationship with OffiCenters changed your business? In several ways. It has allowed me to have professional locations in which to meet with my clients. While some of what I do may be at the client site, my individual leadership coaching is best done away from their office environment. Also, the staff at each of the centers is so friendly and helpful; I feel a sense of community and acceptance when I am at the different sites and that always brightens my day.
8) Tweet, Blog, LinkedIn, Facebook? I am on LinkedIn and still learning to use it effectively. I have over 600 connections and make it a practice to know who is in my network.
9) What is one of your favorite quotes? “When a door closes, somewhere a window opens”.
10) Who has been an inspiration in your life? My Mother, she lost her mother (my grandmother) to the 1918 pneumonia pandemic when she was only seven years old and had to learn to cook for her brothers and sisters. She lost her first born (my oldest sister) at the age of five to complications of a surgical procedure, and lost my father to a heart attack at the age of 75. Through it all she kept her kind, gentle and warm spirit until she passed at 91 years old.
11) When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you use it? I wear a Fitbit, so in addition to my six day a week morning fitness practices, when I have free time I will walk. It helps my thinking, especially when I can do it outside.
