Every business has a story, tell us yours. I have been practicing law for 28 years.  After graduating from the University of North Dakota School of Law I took a job with a small downtown St. Paul law firm where I practiced bankruptcy and consumer protection law for 9 years.  The owner of that firm hit the jackpot with a class action case and retired. Thereafter, I moved across the river to Minneapolis (OffiCenters) and opened my own law firm, Hoverson Law Offices, P.A., where I have been for 19 years.

My law firm provides financial legal solutions for individuals and small businesses in the Twin Cities and surrounding metropolitan area of Minnesota to include out of court resolutions, structured work out plans, litigation, and bankruptcy.  75% of my caseload is in the area of bankruptcy.  Other areas of my law practice include appeals, civil litigation, consumer protection, and debtor/creditor law

You were chosen as this month’s Milestone Client. Tell us about your Milestone achievements. I have weathered the highs and lows of the economy that drives the need or lack thereof for individuals and businesses to file bankruptcy in a highly competitive legal market for 19 years and I plan to continue to practice in this area for years to come.

No one likes to brag about their business, but if you HAD TO . . . I care about my clients.  I do not look at my representation of them as just a job- My client needs to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect. I also make sure my client understands the legal process fully that is associated with their specific case. I return every phone call/email the same day I receive it. A happy client is your best referral source.

We learn from our mistakes, especially in business. Give us some words of wisdom. Don’t be afraid to turn away a prospective client if your gut says so.

Share the best advice you ever received. Treat your clients like you would like to be treated.

Describe your perfect day off. Sitting in the new Minnesota Vikings football stadium in 2018 watching the Vikings win the Superbowl!!!!  GO VIKINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What might someone be surprised to know about you? I have a small hobby farm with horses and 2 miniature donkeys.  My alarm clocks are my donkeys that bray at 5:30 am every morning.

Together we are stronger. Tell us something you like about being our client. Over the years my clients have spoken highly of the receptionists and their professional and friendly demeanor in the lobby and on the phone, which reflect well for everyone.  I appreciate all the computer and technical help the OffiCenter staff provide me. 

If you could work anywhere under the sun, where would you choose? In the winter, in northern Minnesota out of my ice fishing house working by day and fishing at night.  In the other 3 seasons, right where I am at.  Minnesota has a lot to offer that not everyone is aware of.
