December Milestone

The mission of The Firefly Sisterhood is to foster one-to-one connections between women recently diagnosed with breast cancer and inspirational survivors for hope, healing, and encouragement. Breast cancer may be complex, but Firefly makes getting support easy. Breast cancer is complex. Support shouldn’t be. Learn more below!

Every business has a story, tell us yours.
Firefly Sisterhood believes that no woman should go through breast cancer alone. We connect women experiencing breast cancer with an inspirational peer mentor who is also a survivor.

“(My Guide) was and continues to be so helpful. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her. Whether a late-night exchange of texts or coming to hang with me at chemo to her wonderful notes on what to expect, she got me through it.”   -Hanna, Firefly Participant (Name changed to protect privacy)

You were chosen as this month’s Milestone OneCommunity Member. Tell us about your Milestone achievements.
Firefly Sisterhood has been open for five years; we are one of the few peer-mentoring non-profits for women with breast cancer in the country. Our milestone this year was to reach 1000 women matched with a mentor in five years.

What “teacher” has made the most impact on your life and why?
My 11th grade English teacher, he challenged us to think about the world outside our school.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?
I listen to country music.

If you could have only one super power, what would it be and why?
To give everyone a kindness gene that was always on.

Why do you choose to WORK AWESOME at OffiCenters?
OffiCenters provides the ability to have a real address that all nonprofits need, access to administrative support when we are in a pinch and meeting rooms for our board meetings and trainings.

Together we are OneCommunity. How can our business community of 1,500 help support Firefly Sisterhood?
Any donation will help us continue our work across the state of Minnesota. Additionally spreading the word about our program when someone you know hears those dreaded words “you have breast cancer.”
